How to Reset Windows Password

If you have lost the administrator password and are unable to log in to the computer at all, then you need to reset the password to blank. This is achieved by booting the computer from our Reset Windows Password CD.

Reset Windows Password is an easy-to-use bootable CD, with a graphical interface. You can use it to easily reset Windows login password by following the below simple steps.

Step 1: Burn Reset Windows Password CD

  1. Download and save the Reset Windows Password self-extracting Zip file to a folder on your hard drive, then extract the ISO image file: ResetWindowsPwd.iso from it.
  2. Insert a blank CD or DVD in your CD-RW drive.
  3. Install and run the BurnCDCC program, Locate your ISO image file, then click the "Start" button to burn the ISO image to your CD or DVD.

Step 2: Change BIOS Settings

  1. Boot your locked computer. When it is powered on, check the boot-screen for setup key (i.e. DELETE key, F8 key, F2 key) to enter BIOS Setup Utility.
  2. Use the arrow keys to select the BOOT tab, then change the Boot Device Priority: Set 1st Boot Device to CDROM & 2nd Boot Device to Hard Drive. Press F10 to save your changes.

  3. Now your computer is able to boot from CD/DVD.

Step 3: Reset Windows Admin/User Password

  1. Insert the newly burned CD/DVD to your locked computer, then reboot your computer.
  2. Then you will see Reset Windows Password is initializing.

  3. Simply select your Windows installation if multiple operating systems have been installed on the computer, the program will list all user accounts for your selected Windows installation. Select a user account from the list, then click the "Reset" button to reset the password.

  4. Click the "Restart" button to reboot the computer and log into Windows.
