Press the Win + Shift + S hotkey will open the built-in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/quick-ways-to-open-snipping-tool-in-windows-10\/\" target=\"_blank\">Snipping tool<\/a> while pressing Win + S will start Cortana Search, so you&#8217;re unable to use a keyboard shortcut to insert a screen clipping into your OneNote pages.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/send-screen-clipping-to-onenote.png\" alt=\"send-screen-clipping-to-onenote\" width=\"491\" height=\"372\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To fix these hotkey conflicts, you have to change OneNote Screen Clipping shortcut key, or disable the global Win + S hotkey in Windows 10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1: Change OneNote Screen Clipping Shortcut Key<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the Windows key + R hotkey to open the Run box. Type <strong>regedit<\/strong> and press Enter.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/regedit.png\" alt=\"regedit\" width=\"399\" height=\"206\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9183\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>When the Registry Editor window appears, navigate to the following key:<br \/>\n<code>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Office\\16.0\\OneNote\\Options\\Other<\/code><\/p>\n<p>\tNote: The 16.0 designates Office 2016, Use 15.0 for Office 2013, 14.0 for Office 2010.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click on any empty space in the right pane, and then select <strong>New<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>DWORD (32-bit) Value<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/new-dword-value1.png\" alt=\"new-dword-value\" width=\"600\" height=\"333\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9420\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Name the newly created DWORD value as <strong>ScreenClippingShortcutKey<\/strong>, and then double-click it to modify.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/ScreenClippingShortcutKey.png\" alt=\"ScreenClippingShortcutKey\" width=\"600\" height=\"333\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9421\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Change the value to <strong>5A<\/strong> (Hexadecimal) and OneNote&#8217;s new screen clip shortcut key will be <strong>Win<\/strong> + <strong>Shift<\/strong> + <strong>Z<\/strong>. The ASCII value of the &#8216;Z&#8217; key is 5A (hex).\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/edit-dword-value1.png\" alt=\"edit-dword-value\" width=\"331\" height=\"199\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9422\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\tIf you want to set a different shortcut key, set the hex value accordingly. You can find the ASCII value for your desired key in this table:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/anscii-table.jpg\" alt=\"anscii-table\" width=\"332\" height=\"426\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9423\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Reboot your computer and check if your new OneNote screen clipping shortcut key will work.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 2: Disable the Global Windows + S Shortcut Key<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another workaround is to disable the global shortcut key Windows + S. Follow this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/disable-specific-windows-key-shortcut\/\" target=\"_blank\">how-to article<\/a> or make the registry changes using command line:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the Windows key + X to open the WinX menu, and then click &#8220;<strong>Command Prompt<\/strong>&#8221; or &#8220;<strong>Windows PowerShell<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/li>\n<li>Copy the following command and then paste it into the command line.
