In such situation, you&#8217;ll get the following error message when you open Windows Defender:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;This app is turned off by group policy. To allow this app to run, contact your security administrator to enable the program via group policy&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/defender-turned-off-by-group-policy.png\" alt=\"defender-turned-off-by-group-policy\" width=\"426\" height=\"234\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In this tutorial we&#8217;ll show you 2 simple ways to fix the issue &#8220;Windows Defender is turned off by group policy&#8221; by enabling Windows Defender again in Windows 10 \/ 8 \/ 7.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1: Fix &#8220;Windows Defender is Turned off by Group Policy&#8221; Using Group Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the Windows key + R together to open the Run box.
