After a short time of inactivity, screen saver will automatically lock the screen and apply password protection. But sometimes screen saver will bother you while playing movie. In this tutorial we&#8217;ll show you 2 ways to turn on or off screen saver in Windows 10 \/ 8 \/7.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1: Turn On \/ Off Screen Saver from Screen Saver Settings Dialog<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click the empty space on your desktop and select <strong>Personalize<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/personalize.png\" width=\"258\" height=\"278\" class=\"alignnone\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>It now opens up the Personalization settings. Click on <strong>Lock screen<\/strong> in the left pane, then click the <strong>Screen saver settings<\/strong> link in the right pane.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/screen-saver-settings1.png\" alt=\"screen-saver-settings\" width=\"600\" height=\"382\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8053\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\tIf you&#8217;re running Windows 7, simply click on the <strong>Screen Saver<\/strong> link at the bottom of the window.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/screen-saver-personalization.png\" alt=\"screen-saver-personalization\" width=\"607\" height=\"382\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8054\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Once Screen Saver Settings dialog is launched, you can customize the screensaver and change the idle time before the screen saver is activated. If you want to turn off screen saver, just set the screen saver as <strong>None<\/strong> and Uncheck the box to <strong>On resume, display logon screen<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/screen-saver.png\" alt=\"screen-saver\" width=\"463\" height=\"510\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8055\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Apply<\/strong> and then <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 2: Turn On \/ Off Screen Saver Using Group Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press Windows key + R and type <strong>gpedit.msc<\/strong> and hit Enter. Double-click on the policy labeled &#8220;<strong>Enable screen saver<\/strong>&#8220;.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/enable-screen-saver1.png\" alt=\"enable-screen-saver\" width=\"599\" height=\"308\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8056\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Set it to <strong>Disabled<\/strong> if you want to turn off screen saver. After disabling, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/fix-screen-saver-settings-greyed-out-in-windows\/\">all the screen saver settings options will be greyed out<\/a>.
