Error while renaming key.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Unable to delete all specified values.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Cannot delete {key_name}: Error while deleting key.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/error-edit-registry-value.png\" alt=\"error-edit-registry-value\" width=\"520\" height=\"277\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7775\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Even you&#8217;re logged in as Administrator, you might still lack permissions to edit a protected registry key. In such cases, you need to take ownership of that particular key and grant full permissions to your signed-in account. This step-by-step tutorial will guide you how to take full ownership of protected registry key in Windows 10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Take Full Ownership of Protected Registry Key?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To start, press the Windows logo key + R on your physical keyboard, type <strong>regedit<\/strong> and press Enter to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/6-ways-to-open-registry-editor-in-windows-10\/\">open the Windows Registry<\/a>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/regedit-via-run.png\" alt=\"regedit-via-run\" width=\"399\" height=\"206\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7481\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to the protected key you want to take ownership of. For this example, we chose the following key:\n<p><code>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\SystemProtectedUserData\\S-1-5-21-1176301877-597599738-4051979053-1001\\AnyoneRead\\Logon<\/code><\/li>\n<li>Right-click on the protected key, and select <strong>Permissions<\/strong> from the context menu that appears.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/edit-registry-permissions.png\" alt=\"edit-registry-permissions\" width=\"520\" height=\"388\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7776\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>In the Permissions window that appears, Click <strong>Advanced<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/registry-key-permissons.png\" alt=\"registry-key-permissons\" width=\"363\" height=\"450\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7777\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>In the Advanced Security Settings dialog, you can see the current owner (<em>SYSTEM<\/em> or &#8220;<em>TrustedInstaller<\/em>&#8220;) of your selected key. Now type your user account name, and then click on &#8220;<strong>Check Names<\/strong>&#8221; button to convert the username to correct format. Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/select-registry-owner.png\" alt=\"select-registry-owner\" width=\"458\" height=\"252\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7779\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Now you&#8217;ll see that your user account is showing up as the owner. Check the &#8220;<strong>Replace owner on subcontainers and objects<\/strong>&#8221; option if you also want to take ownership of the subkeys.
