For more info, contact your network administrator<\/em>&#8216;. Please help me out on this problem.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/sign-in-method-not-allowed.jpg\" alt=\"sign-in-method-not-allowed\" width=\"600\" height=\"416\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7668\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If your account is not granted the permission to log on locally, you&#8217;ll get such an error message at login. To fix this problem, we need to tweak the local security policy, or domain controller policy if you&#8217;re facing the same login issue with a domain user.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Standardalone Computer:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the Windows key + R and type <strong>secpol.msc<\/strong> in the Run box. Press Enter to open the Local Security Policy window.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/secpol.png\" alt=\"secpol\" width=\"413\" height=\"229\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7669\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Expand to <strong>Security Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Local Policies<\/strong> &gt; <strong>User Rights Assignment<\/strong>. In the right pane, locate the policy named <strong>Deny log on locally<\/strong>. Double-click on it to modify.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/deny-log-on-locally.png\" alt=\"deny-log-on-locally\" width=\"521\" height=\"363\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7670\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Check if your problematic user account or the user groups it belongs to is listed there. If it is there, select it and click on <strong>Remove<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/remove-user-from-denied-list.png\" alt=\"remove-user-from-denied-list\" width=\"417\" height=\"507\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7671\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>When it&#8217;s done, click <strong>Apply<\/strong> and then <strong>OK<\/strong>. Reboot your computer and you should be allowed to log on to your account locally.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>For Domain Controller:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is also a corresponding security policy existing in domain controller that can cause the problem &#8220;The sign-in method you are trying to use isn&#8217;t allowed. For more info&#8221;. Follow these steps to fix it:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To get started, open the Group Policy Management. In Windows Server 2008, you can click Start, then select <strong>All Programs<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Administrative Tools<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Group Policy Management<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/group-policy-management.png\" alt=\"group-policy-management\" width=\"420\" height=\"500\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7672\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>On the left hand side of Group Policy Management, expand <strong>Forest<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Domains<\/strong> &gt; your domain name, and then click <strong>Group Policy Objects<\/strong>. In the right-hand window, double-click on <strong>Default Domain Controllers Policy<\/strong> and select <strong>Edit<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/edit-default-domain-policy.png\" alt=\"edit-default-domain-policy\" width=\"524\" height=\"389\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7673\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>This will open the Group Policy Management Editor window. Navigate to:<br \/>\n<code>Computer Configuration &gt; Policies &gt; Windows Settings &gt; Security Settings &gt; Local Policies &gt; User Rights Assignments<\/code><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/domain-controller-policy-editor.png\" alt=\"domain-controller-policy-editor\" width=\"553\" height=\"326\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7674\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\tIn the right pane, double-click on <strong>Deny log on locally<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Check if your problematic domain account or the domain groups it belongs to is listed there. If it is there, select it and click on <strong>Remove<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/remove-domain-user-from-deny-list.png\" alt=\"remove-domain-user-from-deny-list\" width=\"421\" height=\"500\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7675\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Apply<\/strong> and <strong>OK<\/strong> to save your changes.
