When you right-click on the taskbar, you might find that &#8220;Task Manager&#8221; option has been grayed out:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/task-manager-greyed-out.png\" alt=\"task-manager-greyed-out\" width=\"296\" height=\"431\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Also when you press the Windows key + R and type taskmgr, you&#8217;ll receive the following error message: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/task-manager-disabled.png\" alt=\"task-manager-disabled\" width=\"396\" height=\"165\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7329\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Task Manager is probably disabled by an administrator or a virus or spyware. In this tutorial we&#8217;ll show you how to fix &#8220;Task Manager is disabled or greyed out&#8221; in Windows 10, by using Group Policy, Registry Editor or Command Prompt. Either way, you need to log in as administrator before following the steps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1: Fix &#8216;Unable To Access Task Manager&#8217; Using Group Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press Win+R to open Run box, and type <strong>gpedit.msc<\/strong> command to start the Local Group Policy Editor.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate down to the following:<br \/>\n<code>User Configuration -&gt; Administrative Templates -&gt; System -&gt; Ctrl+Alt+Delete Options<\/code><\/li>\n<li>Since you&#8217;re facing the issue that Task Manager has been disabled by administrator, you&#8217;ll see that the &#8220;<strong>Remove Task Manager<\/strong>&#8221; policy in the right pane is enabled. Double-click on it to modify.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/remove-task-manager.png\" alt=\"remove-task-manager\" width=\"604\" height=\"380\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7331\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>To enable Task Manager, you should set this policy to <strong>Not Configured<\/strong> or <strong>Disabled<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/fix-disabled-task-manager.png\" alt=\"fix-disabled-task-manager\" width=\"600\" height=\"554\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7332\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>Apply<\/strong> followed by <strong>OK<\/strong>. Reboot and your problem should be fixed now!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 2: Fix &#8216;Unable To Access Task Manager&#8217; Using Registry Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press Win+R to open Run box, and type <strong>regedit<\/strong> command to start the Registry Editor.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to the following keys:<br \/>\n<code>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\System<\/code><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/DisableTaskMgr.png\" alt=\"DisableTaskMgr\" width=\"543\" height=\"241\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7333\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>In the right side panel, you&#8217;ll see a 32-bit DWORD value named <strong>DisableTaskMgr<\/strong>. In order to re-enable Task Manager, double-click and change the value to 0. (If you want to disable Task Manager, just change its value data back to 1.)<\/li>\n<li>Go ahead and reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 3: Fix &#8216;Unable To Access Task Manager&#8217; Using Command Prompt<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press Win+X shortcut keys on the keyboard and select &#8220;<strong>Command Prompt (Admin)<\/strong>&#8221; from the Power User Menu.<\/li>\n<li>At the Command Prompt, type the following command and press Enter.
