In this tutorial we&#8217;ll show you 2 simple ways to stop your computer from force upgrading to Windows 10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1: Block Windows 10 Upgrade Using Group Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open up Group Policy Editor by using the Windows + R key combination, entering <strong>gpedit.msc<\/strong> and hitting Enter.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/run-gpedit.png\" alt=\"run-gpedit\" width=\"413\" height=\"213\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7085\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>From the left pane of Local Group Policy Editor, navigate to:<br \/>\n<code>Computer Configuration -&gt; Administrative Templates -&gt; Windows Components -&gt; Windows Update<\/code><\/li>\n<li>Double-click the &#8220;<strong>Turn off the upgrade to the latest version of Windows through Windows Update<\/strong>&#8221; policy on the right pane, Select <strong>Enabled<\/strong> and then click <strong>OK<\/strong>.\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/turn-off-windows-upgrade.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/turn-off-windows-upgrade.png\" alt=\"turn-off-windows-upgrade\" width=\"842\" height=\"353\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7086\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Now you&#8217;ve disabled Windows 10 upgrade. Reboot your computer and you will not be pushed to download &amp; install Windows 10 upgrade.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 2: Block Windows 10 Upgrade Using Registry Trick<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re unable to access the Group Policy Editor or the group policy for blocking Windows upgrade is missing, you can then use the following registry trick:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open up the Registry Editor by using the Windows + R key combination, entering <strong>regedit<\/strong> and hitting Enter.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/run-regedit.png\" alt=\"run-regedit\" width=\"413\" height=\"213\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7087\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>In the left pane of Registry Editor, navigate to:<br \/>\n<code>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Windows\\WindowsUpdate<\/code><\/p>\n<p>\tIf you do not see the <strong>WindowsUpdate<\/strong> key, right-click the <strong>Windows<\/strong> key above it, point to <strong>New<\/strong>, and create a key named <strong>WindowsUpdate<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click in the right pane and create a new DWORD (32-bit) value named <strong>DisableOSUpgrade<\/strong>.
