While typing your keyboard in the upper-right hand corner of File Explorer, it will display a history of your past searches in the list.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/file-explorer-search-history.png\" alt=\"file-explorer-search-history\" width=\"600\" height=\"354\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7040\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This tutorial will show you how to clear the search history typed in the search box of File Explorer in Windows 10 \/ 8.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1: Clear Search History Directly from File Explorer<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open File Explorer. Click in the search box in the upper-right hand corner of File Explorer.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/click-search-box.png\" alt=\"click-search-box\" width=\"600\" height=\"354\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7041\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>The Search tab will appear then. In the <strong>Search<\/strong> tab, click on <strong>Recent searches<\/strong>, and then select <strong>Clear search history<\/strong> from the drop-down menu.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/clear-search-history.png\" alt=\"clear-search-history\" width=\"600\" height=\"354\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7042\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Now you will not see the search history while typing in the search box of File Explorer. But the new keywords you typed later will also be saved and you might need to delete them again and again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 2: Disable Search History Using Group Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you want to disable the search history altogether, then you can do so by using the Local Group Policy Editor. Follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the Windows key + R to open the Run box.
