Here is a registry trick to hide a drive or partition in Windows 11\/10\/8\/7\/Vista\/XP, so it cannot be accessed from Windows Explorer by inexperienced users.<\/p>\n<p>The method is not foolproof though, and users can still access the contents of the hidden drive from Command Prompt or Disk Management. If you have some confidential or sensitive data on a local disk and want to lock \/ protect it securely, I recommend you use the <a style=\"text-decoration:underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.top-password.com\/protect-my-folders.html\">Protect My Folder<\/a> application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Hide A Drive \/ Partition from Windows Explorer?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Registry Editor and navigate to the following key: <code>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\Explorer<\/code>. In the right pane, right-click the blank area and choose <strong>New<\/strong> -> <strong>DWORD (32-bit) Value<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/new-dword.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"567\" height=\"354\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18112\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/new-dword.png 567w, https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/new-dword-300x187.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 567px) 100vw, 567px\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Name the newly-created DWORD as <strong>NoDrives<\/strong> and then double-click it. In the pop-up window, choose <strong>Decimal<\/strong>, enter a proper number for hiding your desired partition. In my example, I want to hide the network drive Z:, so I type in the value 33554432.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/NoDrives.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"567\" height=\"396\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18113\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/NoDrives.png 567w, https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/NoDrives-300x210.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 567px) 100vw, 567px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a list of the values (decimal number) you&#8217;ll want to enter for different drive letters:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A: 1<\/li>\n<li>B: 2<\/li>\n<li>C: 4<\/li>\n<li>D: 8<\/li>\n<li>E: 16<\/li>\n<li>F: 32<\/li>\n<li>G: 64<\/li>\n<li>H: 128<\/li>\n<li>I: 256<\/li>\n<li>J: 512<\/li>\n<li>K: 1024<\/li>\n<li>L: 2048<\/li>\n<li>M: 4096<\/li>\n<li>N: 8192<\/li>\n<li>O: 16384<\/li>\n<li>P: 32768<\/li>\n<li>Q: 65536<\/li>\n<li>R: 131072<\/li>\n<li>S: 262144<\/li>\n<li>T: 524288<\/li>\n<li>U: 1048576<\/li>\n<li>V: 2097152<\/li>\n<li>W: 4194304<\/li>\n<li>X: 8388608<\/li>\n<li>Y: 16777216<\/li>\n<li>Z: 33554432<\/li>\n<li>ALL: 67108863<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But what to do if you want to hide more than one drive in Windows? Just add the values of the drives that you want to hide. For example, if you want to hide the drives E:, F: and A: you would enter 49 (16+32+1) in <code>NoDrives<\/code> as the decimal value.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Restart your computer and your target drive will disappear from Windows Explorer.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/hide-windows-drive.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"568\" height=\"355\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18114\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/hide-windows-drive.png 568w, https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/hide-windows-drive-300x188.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 568px) 100vw, 568px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can even hide the C: drive without corrupting your system.
