Microsoft is not able to help you retrieve lost file passwords. If you&#8217;ve forgotten or misplaced the password to a Microsoft Outlook data file (.pst), you can recover it easily with the <a style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.top-password.com\/outlook-password-recovery.html\">Outlook Password Recovery<\/a> program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Outlook Data File Location<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before getting started, you need to know where your Outlook data file is saved.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>Mail<\/strong> applet from the Control Panel.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/control-panel1.png\" alt=\"control-panel\" width=\"600\" height=\"297\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3743\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>Data Files<\/strong> button. This will open the Account Settings window.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/mail-setup1.png\" alt=\"mail-setup\" width=\"423\" height=\"306\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3744\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Data Files<\/strong> tab to see your Outlook data files, including PST and OST files. If you have multiple accounts in Outlook, you may notice several data files listed. In my example, I want to recover the password for the <em>Test.pst<\/em> file.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/outlook-pst-files.png\" alt=\"outlook-pst-files\" width=\"600\" height=\"490\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3745\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select your password protected PST file, and click <strong>Open Folder<\/strong> button to open the folder containing the PST in Windows Explorer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Recover Outlook Data File Password<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Have you forgotten the password to your Outlook data file which is required to access your email in Outlook? If you&#8217;ve figured out the location of your password-protected Outlook data file, you can import the .pst file to the Outlook Password Recovery program and recover your forgotten password. Here are step-by-step instructions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Download and install <a style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.top-password.com\/outlook-password-recovery.html\">Outlook Password Recovery<\/a> on your local computer.<\/li>\n<li>Open up the Outlook Password Recovery program and click on <strong>Unlock PST File<\/strong> button.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/outlook-password-recovery.png\" alt=\"outlook-password-recovery\" width=\"600\" height=\"410\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3747\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>The <b>File Open<\/b> dialog will appear. Choose your password-protected Outlook data file (.pst), and click <b>Open<\/b>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/locate-pst-file.png\" alt=\"locate-pst-file\" width=\"600\" height=\"422\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3748\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>The program will start to decrypt the PST file and provide 3 different passwords. You can then use any of them to unlock and open your password-protected Outlook data file.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>With this method you can recover forgotten password for Outlook data file (.pst) that was created in Microsoft Outlook 2016, 2013, 2010, 2007, 2003, 2000.
