But this feature is disabled by default. In this post, I&#8217;ll walk you through the steps to enable remote desktop in Windows 8 \/ 10, so you can then connect to your Windows 8 \/ 10 machine from a remote computer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Part 1: Enable Remote Desktop in Windows 10<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the Windows + I key combination to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/6-ways-to-open-pc-settings-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">open the Settings app<\/a>. Click on the <strong>System<\/strong> category.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/system-settings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"443\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14716\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Choose the <strong>Remote Desktop<\/strong> tab. On the right pane, toggle the &#8220;<strong>Enable Remote Desktop<\/strong>&#8221; option to On.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/enable-remote-desktop-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"469\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15048\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Part 2: Enable Remote Desktop in Windows 8<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press Windows + R key combination to bring the Run command box. Type in <strong>SystemPropertiesRemote.exe<\/strong> and press Enter.\n<p> \t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1884\" title=\"run\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/run.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"413\" height=\"215\" \/><\/li>\n<li>This will bring up the <strong>System Properties<\/strong> screen. The procedure is pretty much the same as it&#8217;s been for older versions of Windows. If there&#8217;re any issues, please check if remote desktop is blocked by Windows Firewall. Go to <strong>Control Panel<\/strong> and click on <strong>Windows Firewall<\/strong>. Click on <strong>Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall<\/strong> and then scroll down until you see <strong>Remote Desktop<\/strong>.
