Microsoft is aware of this bug and has posted <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/outlook-and-other-apps-won-t-remember-password-after-windows-updates-1e5a8a80-7112-440a-a18c-be2e50047a75\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">a new support article<\/a> about Outlook on November 6th:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;After installing Windows 10 Version 2004 Build 19041.173 and related updates you find that Outlook and other applications do not remember your password anymore.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to some reports, the problem happens when certain scheduled tasks enable the &#8220;Do not store password&#8221; option in the Task Scheduler. It can cause Windows 10 to forget passwords saved in Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Outlook, OneDrive and Office 365. Thankfully, Microsoft has come up with a workaround to resolve this issue before rolling out a patch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Fix a Bug Causing Windows 10 v2004 to Forget Saved Passwords<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/5-ways-to-run-powershell-as-administrator-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Open Windows PowerShell as administrator<\/a>. Copy and paste the following command into PowerShell and hit Enter:<br \/>\n<code>Get-ScheduledTask | foreach { If (([xml](Export-ScheduledTask -TaskName $_.TaskName -TaskPath $_.TaskPath)).GetElementsByTagName(\"LogonType\").'#text' -eq \"S4U\") { $_.TaskName } }<\/code><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/export-scheduled-tasks.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"582\" height=\"188\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16613\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/export-scheduled-tasks.png 582w, https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/export-scheduled-tasks-300x97.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 582px) 100vw, 582px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It will list any tasks that are configured with the &#8220;Do not store password&#8221; option in the Task Scheduler. Note down the task names you see in the PowerShell output.<\/li>\n<li>Now, you need to disable those tasks you found from the above command. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/5-ways-to-open-task-scheduler-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Open Task Scheduler<\/a> and expand the &#8220;<strong>Task Scheduler Library<\/strong>&#8221; folder, right-click on each target task and select <strong>Disable<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/disable-a-scheduled-task.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"294\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16614\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/disable-a-scheduled-task.png 600w, https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/disable-a-scheduled-task-300x147.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Reboot your computer. You need to re-enter the missing passwords one more time for Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Outlook, OneDrive and Office 365.
