You have to click the screen before you can get to the logon screen. This seems like something that makes more sense on a tablet PC. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/windows-lock-screen.jpg\" alt=\"windows-lock-screen\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6947\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you are using a desktop or laptop computer, you can disable the Lock Screen so the computer will boot up directly to logon screen to choose the user account to log in to Windows 8\/10. Fortunately, you can disable the Lock Screen from Local Group Policy Editor or Registry Editor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1: Disable Windows 8 or 10 Lock Screen Using Group Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The first thing you need to do is to open the Local Group Policy Editor by pressing the Windows + R key combination to bring up a Run box, then type <strong>gpedit.msc<\/strong> and hit Enter.\n<\/li>\n<li>Now, expand <strong>Administrative Templates<\/strong> settings from <strong>Computer Configuration<\/strong>, and then navigate to <em>Control Panel \u2013> Personalization<\/em>. In main window, you will find <strong>Do not display the lock screen<\/strong> policy.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/do-not-display-lock-screen.png\" alt=\"do-not-display-lock-screen\" width=\"600\" height=\"278\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6948\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Double-click this policy and tick <strong>Enabled<\/strong> checkbox. This will permanently disable Lock Screen. When disabled, users will see the logon screen when they log off or lock out Windows. Similarly, you will be taken to logon screen directly, instead of Lock Screen, at startup.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 2: Disable Windows 8 or 10 Lock Screen Using Registry Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Registry Editor by pressing Windows key + R to open the Run box, and then type <strong>regedit<\/strong> and press Enter.\n<\/li>\n<li>\nNavigate to the following registry key:<br \/>\n<code>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Personalization<\/code><\/p>\n<p>If you do not see the <strong>Personalization<\/strong> key, you have to create it by right-clicking the <strong>Windows<\/strong> key above it and selecting <strong>New<\/strong> -> <strong>Key<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n<li>\nRight-click in the right pane and create a new DWORD value named <strong>NoLockScreen<\/strong>, and then set its value to 1. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/disable-lock-screen1.png\" alt=\"disable-lock-screen\" width=\"541\" height=\"423\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6949\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To re-enable the lock screen in the future, either delete the NoLockScreen value from your registry or set it to 0.\n<\/li>\n<li>\nClose the registry editor and now you&#8217;ve successfully removed the lock screen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By default, Windows 8 or 10 shows Lock Screen at startup, which displays the date ad well as notifications.
