The default size of hiberfil.sys is approximately 40% of physical memory on the system. If you want to disable hibernate mode without turning off Fast Startup, you can reduce the size of the hibernation file (hiberfil.sys) to about 20% of your RAM in Windows 10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tip:<\/strong> hiberfil.sys is a hidden system file. You could see it in the File Explorer only if you checked &#8220;Show hidden files and folders&#8221; in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/open-folder-options-in-windows\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Folder Options<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Reduce Hibernation File Size in Windows 10<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Open <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/5-ways-to-run-powershell-as-administrator-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Windows PowerShell<\/a> (or Command Prompt) as administrator and run the following command:<br \/>\n<code>powercfg \/h \/type reduced<\/code><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/reduce-hibernation-file.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"519\" height=\"152\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/reduce-hibernation-file.png 519w, https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/reduce-hibernation-file-300x88.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 519px) 100vw, 519px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This command will reduce the hibernation file size for storing only the OS kernel and drivers for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/turn-on-or-off-fast-startup-missing-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Fast Startup<\/a>.
