In this tutorial we’ll show you how to make Windows 10 hide the local administrator account from the UAC prompt, so standard users have to enter both user name and password of a local administrator account to elevate its permissions.<\/p>\n

Method 1: Hide Administrator Account in UAC Prompt Using Group Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Open the Local Group Policy Editor<\/a> and browse to:
    \nComputer Configuration\\Administrative Templates\\Windows Components\\Credential User Interface<\/code><\/p>\n

    \tDouble-click the “Enumerate administrator accounts on elevation<\/strong>” policy.<\/li>\n

  2. Set it to Disabled<\/strong>. Click Apply<\/strong> and then OK<\/strong>.\n

    Method 2: Hide Administrator Account in UAC Prompt Using Registry Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n

    For those using a Home edition of Windows 10 which lacks the Local Group Policy Editor, you can use the following registry tweak to hide the administrator accounts from the UAC prompt.<\/p>\n

    1. Open Registry Editor<\/a> and navigate to:
      \nHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\CredUI<\/code><\/p>\n

      \tIf you do not have the CredUI<\/strong> key, then just create it.<\/li>\n

    2. Right-click any blank area in the right panel and select New<\/strong> -> DWORD (32-bit) Value<\/strong>. Name it EnumerateAdministrators<\/strong> and leave its value as 0.\n
