In this tutorial we&#8217;ll show you 3 ways to prevent Windows 10 from disconnecting network during sleep.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1: Keep Network Connection Active When in Sleep Mode (On Battery &amp; Plugged in)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/6-ways-to-open-power-options-in-windows-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open the Power Options<\/a>. Locate and expand the &#8220;<strong>Network connectivity in Standby<\/strong>&#8221; setting. By default, this setting is hidden and you can make it shown with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/fix-network-connectivity-in-standby-missing-from-power-options\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this trick<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/network-connectivity-in-standby.png\" width=\"406\" height=\"428\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click to select <strong>Enable<\/strong> for both &#8220;<strong>On battery<\/strong>&#8221; and &#8220;<strong>Plugged in<\/strong>&#8220;. Once saving the changes, your computer should stay connected to the network when in sleep mode.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 2: Prevent Sleep Mode from Disconnecting Network to Save Battery Power<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/6-ways-to-open-pc-settings-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Open the Settings app<\/a> and navigate to <strong>System<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>Power &amp; sleep<\/strong>. On the right-side pane, click the option &#8220;<strong>When my PC is asleep and on battery power, disconnect from the network<\/strong>&#8221; and change it to <strong>Never<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/when-pc-is-asleep-disconnect-network.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"452\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13819\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Note that this option is only available for Windows 10 laptops and tablets with built-in battery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 3: Use GPO to Allow Network Connectivity during Connected-Standby<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/open-local-group-policy-editor-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Open the Local Group Policy Editor<\/a> and browse to:<br \/>\n<code>Computer Configuration -&gt; Administrative Templates -&gt; System -&gt; Power Management -&gt; Sleep Settings<\/code><\/li>\n<li>On the right pane, you can find the two settings: &#8220;<strong>Allow network connectivity during connected-standby (on battery)<\/strong>&#8221; and &#8220;<strong>Allow network connectivity during connected-standby (plugged in)<\/strong>&#8220;. Double-click on each of them to modify.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/allow-network-connectivity-during-standby.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"598\" height=\"326\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13820\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Enabled<\/strong> and click <strong>OK<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/keep-network-connection-active-during-sleep.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"483\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13821\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Finally make a rebooting to apply the policy settings. <strong>Note<\/strong>: These changes will make the &#8220;<strong>Network connectivity in Standby<\/strong>&#8221; setting in the Power Options greyed out and you&#8217;re also unable to change the setting for &#8220;<strong>When my PC is asleep and on battery power, disconnect from the network<\/strong>&#8221; in the Settings app.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If your computer still loses network connection in sleep mode, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/8-ways-to-open-device-manager-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">open the Device Manager<\/a> and access the Properties of your Ethernet\/Wi-Fi adapter.
