For security and privacy concern, you can selectively turn off password synchronization. In this tutorial we&#8217;ll show you 3 ways to prevent Windows 10 from syncing passwords.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1: Turn off Password Sync from the Settings App<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the Windows key + I to open up the Settings app. Click on <strong>Accounts<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/accounts-settings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"384\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13331\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Sync your settings<\/strong> in the left-hand menu. You can either disable syncing completely, or selectively turn off individual sync settings. Here we choose the <strong>Password<\/strong> option to toggle it off.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/windows-10-sync-settings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"547\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13332\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Now, all your stored credentials in your browsers and Windows apps will not be synced to other devices.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 2: Turn off Password Sync Using Group Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/open-local-group-policy-editor-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Open the Local Group Policy Editor<\/a> and navigate to:<br \/>\n<code>Computer Configuration\\Administrative Templates\\Windows Components\\Sync your settings<\/code><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/sync-your-settings-GPO.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"543\" height=\"348\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, double-click the &#8220;<strong>Do not sync passwords<\/strong>&#8221; policy on the right side.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Enabled<\/strong>. Uncheck the &#8220;<strong>Allow users to turn passwords syncing on<\/strong>&#8221; option if you also want to disable the &#8220;Password&#8221; sync setting in the Settings app.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/do-not-sync-passwords.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"536\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13334\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Apply<\/strong> and then <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 3: Turn off Password Sync Using Registry Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/6-ways-to-open-registry-editor-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Open Registry Editor<\/a> and browse to: <code>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Windows\\SettingSync<\/code>. Right-click on blank area in the right pane, and select <strong>New<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>DWORD(32-bit) Value<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/SettingSync.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"598\" height=\"348\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13335\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Name the new DWORD value <strong>DisableCredentialsSettingSync<\/strong>. Next, double-click it to modify.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DisableCredentialsSettingSync.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"598\" height=\"348\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13336\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll see the Edit DWORD (32-Bit) Value dialog box.
