If you want to stop personalized ads from appearing on apps in your Windows 10 PC, here are 3 ways to turn off Advertising ID for your Windows account.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1: Disable Advertising ID for Current Account Using Settings App<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the Windows + I keyboard shortcut to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/6-ways-to-open-pc-settings-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">open the Settings app<\/a>. Click on <strong>Privacy<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/privacy-settings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13292\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Make sure the <strong>General<\/strong> tab is selected. On the right side, turn off the &#8220;<strong>Let apps use advertising ID to make ads more interesting to you based on your app usage<\/strong>&#8220;.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/let-apps-use-advertising-id.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"389\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13293\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Now you&#8217;ve reset your advertising ID. You&#8217;ll still see ads, but they won&#8217;t be personalized to your tastes and preferences.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 2: Disable Advertising ID for Current Account Using Registry Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/6-ways-to-open-registry-editor-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Open Registry Editor<\/a> and browse to the following location:<br \/>\n<code>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\AdvertisingInfo<\/code><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/AdvertisingInfo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"526\" height=\"239\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13294\" \/><\/p>\n<p> \tIn the right pane, double-click on the 32-bit DWORD &#8220;<strong>Enabled<\/strong>&#8221; to edit it.<\/li>\n<li>Set its value to 0 to disable your advertising ID. If you want to turn on advertising ID, change the value back to 0.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/disable-advertising-id-windows-10.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"331\" height=\"199\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13295\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Now you should be able to use Windows 10 apps without getting targeted ads from Microsoft.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 3: Disable Advertising ID for All Accounts Using Group Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/open-local-group-policy-editor-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Open the Local Group Policy Editor<\/a> and navigate to:<br \/>\n<code>Computer Configuration\\Administrative Templates\\System\\User Profile<\/code><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/turn-off-the-advertising-id.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"597\" height=\"292\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13296\" \/><\/p>\n<p> \tDouble-click on the &#8220;<strong>Turn off the advertising ID<\/strong>&#8221; policy on the right side to edit it.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Enabled<\/strong>.
