In this tutorial we&#8217;ll walk you through the steps of mapping a network drive in Windows 10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Map a Network Drive in Windows 10?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the Windows key\u2009+\u2009E shortcut to open a File Explorer window.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>This PC<\/strong> from the left navigation pane. Select the <strong>Computer<\/strong> tab at the top and then click the <strong>Map network drive<\/strong> button.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/map-network-drive.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"589\" height=\"318\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10428\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click the Drive drop-down menu and choose the drive letter you want to assign, then enter the address of the shared folder to which you want to map the drive and click <strong>Finish<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/network-folder-location-to-map.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"575\" height=\"422\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10429\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>When the Windows Security dialog box appears, type the username and password of the computer that is sharing the folder you want to map. <strong>Note:<\/strong> If you keep getting the error message &#8220;<em>username or password is incorrect<\/em>&#8220;, try to give the username as &#8220;<strong>ip_address\\username<\/strong>&#8220;.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/enter-network-credentials.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"456\" height=\"326\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10430\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>After mapping, the network drive will show up in File Explorer. You can click that drive to access the shared folder as though it were a local drive.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/mapped-network-drive.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"543\" height=\"318\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10431\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you want to remove mapped network drive, just right-click on it and select <strong>Disconnect<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you&#8217;re running Windows Server Core without a GUI, you can map a network drive using the command line. Just type the following command, where <em>Z:<\/em> is the drive letter you want to assign to the shared folder. The <em>persistent<\/em> switch can make the mapped drive persist over reboots.<\/p>\n<p><code>net use Z: \\\\remotepc\\sharename \/persistent:yes<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Once pressing Enter, it will prompt you to enter the credentials of an account authorized to access the shared folder.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/map-network-drive-command-prompt.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"581\" height=\"263\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can later delete a mapped network drive by typing in the command below.<\/p>\n<p><code>net use Z: \/delete<\/code><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s all there is to it.
