According to Microsoft, it helps to improve the quality of Windows. If you&#8217;re worry about this automatic data collection for privacy concern, here are simple ways to restrict \/ disable Telemetry from collecting diagnostic and usage data in Windows 10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1: Change Diagnostic and Usage Data Settings from Settings<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the WIN + I keys together to open the Settings app. Click <strong>Privacy<\/strong>.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/privacy-settings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"409\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9387\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Under the <strong>Feedback and diagnostics<\/strong> section, you can select how much data you send to Microsoft. By default, it&#8217;s set to <strong>Full<\/strong>, which sends pretty much everything. If you choose <strong>Basic<\/strong>, Windows 10 will send the minimum amount of data to Microsoft&#8217;s servers.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/feedback-and-diagnostics.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"427\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10316\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 2: Change Diagnostic and Usage Data Settings from Group Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/open-local-group-policy-editor-in-windows-10\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Open the Local Group Policy Editor<\/a>. If you&#8217;re running Windows 10 Home\/Pro, <strong>Basic<\/strong> is the lowest telemetry level you can choose.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> to save your change. Once you apply this policy, the option to change diagnostic and usage data in Settings app becomes grayed out.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 3: Prevent Windows 10 from collecting Diagnostic and Usage Data<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you want to completely stop the Windows 10 telemetry from sending out any data to Microsoft, you can disable the &#8220;Connected User Experiences and Telemetry&#8221; service. Follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the WIN + R keys together to open the Run dialog. Type <strong>services.msc<\/strong> and press Enter.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/run-services.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"399\" height=\"206\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10319\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>When the Services window opens, locate the service &#8220;<strong>Connected User Experiences and Telemetry<\/strong>&#8221; in the right pane, and then double-click it.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top-password.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/windows-services.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"558\" height=\"287\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10320\" \/>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Disabled<\/strong> from the &#8220;Startup type&#8221; drop-down box, and click the <strong>Stop<\/strong> button to stop the running service.
